Meet Eder
Many of you will remember that back in October we had an adventure in the state of Minas Gerais, which involved our truck breaking down on our way to a conference. While stranded in the little town of Curvelo, I was asked to speak at a small Baptist church. After the service we met the young man pictured above. His name is Eder, and he was interested in studying at our seminary.
To my great joy, he showed up here on the first day of classes. His arrival made some sense of our Minas Gerais mishaps.
Since his arrival here, Eder has demonstrated the clear call of God on his life. He has thrown himself into his studies, and into his practical ministries. He has a gift for evangelism, and a servant's heart. Everybody has been thoroughly impressed with this young man.
When he arrived here, he shared with me that before our appearance in Curvelo he had been praying that God would bring someone along who would show him where he should study for the ministry. Our arrival there was a direct answer to his prayer.
I asked him to give me a "heads up" the next time he started praying like that.
Right now God is taking Eder through a time of uncertainty of his own. He came here with the promise of full support from his church. Through a completely unforseeable series of events, his church no longer is able to support him. This leaves Eder uncertain as to whether he will be able to return next semester.
All of us here at the seminary would like to see him come back, and he definitely wants to return. Would you please pray with us for this matter?

Pastor Andrew, muito obrigada pela dica do blog http://cadernoteologico.wordpress.com, mas não é nenhuma novidade pra mim, porque já faz tempo que visito esse seu blog em português. Gosto muito dos seus artigos, e fico ansiosa por novas postagens. Mas tenho notado que ultimamente o senhor não tem tido tempo para postar, deve ser por causa do final de semestre no SBC. Mas todos os dias dou uma conferida no seu blog, inclusive já comentei no artigo "Quem Falou?" sobre aquela declaração de Darwin. Amei os artigos sobre "Mitos Infernais", e vi que muitas idéias que eu tinha sobre o inferno não tinham qualquer fundamento bíblico. Também gostei da sua idéia maravilhosa de exigir que os alunos da sua disciplina no SBC façam blogs e postem sobre as aulas. Sempre que posso, dou uma conferida também nos blogs deles. Enfim... Parabéns, Pastor Andrew, tenho muita admiração pelo seu trabalho!
Obs.: Ei, não vou desistir de estudar inglês, não. Um dia eu sei que vou conseguir comentar também na sua língua-mãe. Valeu!

Excuse me, I don't speak english. KKKK (já percebi que todo mundo nesse blog se comunica em inglês, vou ser a exceção!)
É, eu conheço esse rapaz... Pelo pouco que já conversei com ele, deu pra perceber que é bastante dedicado à obra de Deus, interessado pelos estudos no SBC. Ele tem um futuro grandioso pela frente como pastor ou missionário, muita disposição para servir e evangelizar. Investir na formação do Eder é, sem dúvidas, um bom investimento! São poucos os jovens hoje em dia que estão dispostos a largar a sua vida para seguir inteiramente a Cristo, dedicar tempo integral ao ministério. E esses jovens merecem credibilidade, incentivo e ajuda dos demais crentes. "E como pregarão, se não forem enviados?(...)" Rm 10:15
