Sights of Belem: The Governor's Mansion

I was surprised to find two Victorian mansions in the heart of Belem.

This one--which was built by a former governor of the state and which has been appropriately dubbed "The Governor's Mansion"--was open to the public.

They don't make iron gates like they used to!

A little Victorian gazebo...

...and an outdoor garden.

An old train car...

Which now serves as an ice-cream parlor.

I had a talk with the former owner.

It was rather one-sided.
