Dubious Honor

An alert reader pointed out that if you do a Google search for Padre Cicero--the charlatan priest whose "miracles" catapulted him to god status in this region--the Comings Communiqué is the first site listed.

I'm not sure what to think about that.

a bit of a side line, but one you might enjoy if your are stuck for christmas presents. X box or a talking doll ummm Hard choice. I can just imagine the look the kids' faces if Jesus appeared from their stocking.

I saw that yesterday. And, it is not that far off topic, actually. Both the Jesus doll and Padre Cicero represent cynical marketing of religious belief on the part of their promoters.

There is another with semi-godlike status I believe- Marcelo (?) Rossi- wanted to be JP2's right hand man from what I recall. He's another charlatan.

I had never heard about Marcelo Rossi wanting to be the Papal assistent, but I don't doubt it in the least. He is definitely a charlatan, however. Kind of a priest/popstar.

Try it again. I just did, and it came up again.

Try setting the country to U.S. like this
http://www.google.com/search?hl=pt-US&q=padre+cicero

That's the only way it would come up for me. Also depends on which data center you hit at Google.

Thanks, Aaron. I'm quite ignorant of all the inner workings of Google from country to country.

By the way folks, if you want good insights into missionary work, check out Aaron's blog by clicking on his name above. I have been following it for some time.

Good stuff.
