Easter Happenings

This has been a fun week. I have gotten to explore São Luís, talk to pastors about the future of the ministry here, and spend some quality time with my in-laws. On Saturday we went to the beach, and I got majorly burned (ouch).

Sunday night I was able to preach. It was the first time I had preached in Portuguese in three years, and I am sure there were some un-intentional heresies included in the message.

Later on today we will be going out on the town again. Tomorrow I will be going with Pastor Fransisco to see some of the areas where he wants to start works.

That is all the update I can think of right now. Will add more later.

Hi from another missionary blogger in Japan.

Here is my most famous "unintentional heresy"

Early on in my career here I worked very hard on translating a set of teachings into Japanese and then got up in front of some very patient people and read it to them. I was just getting into it and repeated the phrase "Why is God so slow?" a few times for effect, teaching on how His timing is not our timing. However my Japanese came out "Naze kame wa osoi desuka?" instead of "Naze kami wa osoi desuka?" So my audience was left to wonder "Why is the turtle so slow?" Deep question indeed!
